The weather that Winnipeggers are experiencing in the month of October is really an eye-opener. Usually we'd be taking out the gloves, scarves, and winter jackets, but last week, people were putting back on the short shorts, sandals, and sunglasses. It would seem like the weather this month was more summer ideal than the weather we had in July-August, seeing that this was the kind of weather all people were waiting to experience during the summer.
In the article, it said that this weather shouldn't be such a surprise. The record for the hottest temperature that we had in this time of the year was 27.8 C — set in 1938. Also "... in Brandon, the record high mark is 29.4 C. In Portage la Prairie, the hottest-ever Oct. 9 was 28.9 C, and in Swan River it had once reached a sizzling 30.6 C on that date."
Personally, I don't think this kind of weather should be at all surprising, since it's been evident that the weather is exceptionally getting hotter, which is also known as global warming. The weather has been warming at a slow pace ever since time can be recorded. But as for global warming, it should also be a situation that we should also take advantage of. Since we know that global warming is technically as natural cause, we don't necessarily take in action to prevent the warming of the earth from increasing it's pace. So I believe we must take action in what we're doing; be more environmental friendly, buy hybrid cars, use sufficient gas vehicles, etc. And from this, we could make a difference.
